Bryan's Movie Review -- 2012 *1/2

Some people will read this review and think I'm a snob -- that I'm incapable of enjoying a movie that's "just entertaining."

Those people don't know me at all.

You're talking to a guy who actually enjoyed Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. In fact, I've liked all kinds of ridiculous, big-time, summer blockbusters that are "just entertaining." However, that's not what 2012 is. For a movie to fall into this category it actually has to be entertaining. 2012, on the other hand, was antithesis of entertainment.

Honestly, now that I've gotten this far into the review, I no longer want to write about this movie. I actually saw it weeks ago and I'm just now writing it to demonstrate that I don't love every movie I see (my previous two reviews were both four stars).

I can sum 2012 up by listing a few faux pas that show up numerous times in the film: 1) uncanny and unbelievable coincidences; 2) characters who's words and actions make no sense, even in the reality that is the movie; 3) plot points that go unexplained for the entire movie; 4) action sequences that, while they are decent looking, are extremely boring. I actually slept through the destruction of Los Angeles...or San Francisco...or whatever California city it was. Like I said, asleep.

So, if you wanted to see this movie, you probably have already and so I'm too late to stop you. For that, I am truly sorry.

Ugh, I took one for the team and bought a ticket. After an hour of torture I made sure everyone knew that the movie was almost 3 hours long. We left just before the halfway mark, whew!
