I am sure our faithful readers (ie: my mom and Bryan's mom) have been anxiously awaiting a blog post from me that chronicles my feelings on pregnancy. Well, Dana and Nancy, the wait is over.
For those of you who haven't seen me in all my maternal glory, here's a photo taken just this morning. Apologies for the poor quality -- it was taken with my cell phone.

Funny/obnoxious things people have said:
- My obstetrician at my monthly checkup in January: "Wow, you've gained a lot of weight since I last saw you." Ouch.
- My little brother, right after we announced I was pregnant: "You know how hard it is to lose weight after you've had a baby, right?" Grr.
- A work acquaintance (pointing at my belly): "Looks like things are really cooking in there."
- Everyone I know who already has kids: "You'd better sleep now, because once the baby comes, you'll never sleep again!"
- Morning sickness. My mom -- mother of six children -- never had a day of morning sickness, and my sister, whose baby was born February 1, didn't either. It didn't even occur to me that I might get sick until it happened on the side of the freeway as Bryan and I were driving into work one morning.
- How quickly I went from being able to wear clothes made for normal people to having nothing that fit. It really sort of happened overnight.
- The number of people who want to touch my stomach, especially the number of total strangers.
- Bryan's level of excitement every time he feels the baby move. It's really quite endearing to see how awesome he thinks it is to feel a little punch or kick.
- How hard it is to pick out a name. I blame my little sister for this, who had her baby's name picked out before she was even pregnant. She set the expectations unrealistically high for how easy it would be to find the right name. I promise, mom, the baby will have a name before we leave the hospital, but I can't make any promises that he will be named before then.
- How quickly time is passing. It's mid-February already? Seriously?

Chelsey!! I am seriously SO excited for you guys! You guys are going to be such fun parents! You make such a cute pregnant girl too! How many more exclamation points do you think I can add before it just starts to look like I'm having a nervous breakdown?!!! Anyway! I love you guys!!
Wish we had an exact date so we could book the airline tickes 3 months early.
I too have been anxiously awaiting the pregnancy pics and news! At last, I can sleep at night. I mean, if I didn't have a child because you'll never sleep again once you have one. Ha! No seriously, I slept horribly, or rather didn't sleep through my pregnancy, so once that baby was out and I pumped some milk for others to feed her, I was snoozing away! I hear you on the name thing...but I was surprised to read about the stomach-rubbing. Maybe I didn't notice because I'm not that protective of my personal space, but I seriously don't remember anyone wanting to touch my belly except Neal -- and even him, I probably had to coax.
A couple of appointments ago my doctor (who said she wouldn't ever make comments on my weight unless there was cause for concern) told me, "You only gained two pounds this week. I'd be concerned but you gained so much last time!" Ah, thank you.
I can't believe how many people ask about our name. I don't think I ask people that question. If they want to share, I figure they will. If not, then there probably isn't a point to me asking. It makes me feel so awkward to dance around the subject and avoid telling them the name we've picked out.
I haven't gotten one belly rub. Thank heavens. I would swat at hands. But I was taken aback the first time a stranger asked me when I was due. Don't ask. You never know FOR SURE, people.
And a hearty AMEN to the insane speed of time. How is it possible?
HA! So not true--you can sleep after kids. Why do you think they evented those kid shows on tv? Yep, so you can nap on the couch while your kid watches. So excited for you!!!
You look BEAUTIFUL!
And seriously, picking names is the worst. This last baby girl of ours almost left the hospital as "baby Grafunkle".
I love your blog!!! and you are so adorable!
I love you picture. You look very cute! I do check everyday!
